Developing contaminated sediment transport model and prevention management platform project

Absrtact
The goal of this project is to develop a contaminated sediment transport model and preventive management platform suitable for river water bodies in Taiwan. Based on the model simulation results, evaluate and clarify the potential degree of sediment pollution in each river section of the river, and then propose the corresponding management as. Through the existing data inventory and model simulation priority screening mechanism of 118 listed rivers in Taiwan, 12 priority water bodies were selected for evaluation. The Agongdian River and the Laojie River were chosen as the demonstrated water body among those 12 rivers mentioned above. After the model is established by using WASH123D and the parameters are calibrated and verified, the sediment management dashboard of the model platform is used to establish the potential map of sediment pollution in the river catchment area, to grasp the spatial pollution status of the sediment quality of the demonstration water body. From the results, it can be seen that the Tuku river reaches, the discharge from the Benzhou Industrial Zone and the discharge from the Yongan Industrial Zone are the high pollution potential river reaches for the Agongdian River. Many river sections such as Laojie River, Dakeng River, Dayuan Phase I Industrial Zone and Tianxinzai River and other pollution sources are high pollution potential river sections. For high pollution potential river sections, it is recommended that the competent authority of the target industry increase the frequency of sediment sampling in accordance with the "Measures for the Classification and Management of Sediment Quality Indicators and Restrictions on Uses", and recommends strengthening the inspection of industrial waste (sewage) water discharged by factories around the high-pollution potential river section, and to delineate total control areas, resource utilization of biogas residue and biogas slurry, or tighten discharge standards for pollution collection areas corresponding to important pollution intervention points.
